Show and Tell for Term 3

Dear Parent/sGuardians,


The Primary Two pupils will be participating in a Show and Tell session every week (wef 30th July 2010). It will take place in school. The objective is to provide your child with opportunities to build up his/her confidence in public speaking.

Your child is expected to give a short speech of approximately 1 to 2 minutes duration. He/She should also bring along an object such as a toy or a photograph (which is related to the topic) to show the audience during the session.

Please help to prepare your child for the Show and Tell session.

Here is a checklist to assist you in preparation for your child’s Show and Tell. You may want to refer to the following criteria while preparing for the presentation.




Checklist:

o Draft out the topic with your child on a piece of paper beforehand.

o Prepare with your child, a script between 100 to 150 words.

o Your child may pick another topic apart from the one assigned to him/her.

o Encourage your child to memorise the script.

o Remind your child to bring along the script during the presentation.

o Your child may refer to it if he/she have forgotten their lines.

o Your child may bring along an object related to the topic.

o Encourage your child to make eye contact with the audience during the presentation.

o Remind your child to capture the audience’s attention during the talk.

o Encourage your child to speak audibly, clearly and be expressive.



With your guidance, the child will feel more confident to express himself or herself during the presentation.
